Do not make a lie your refuge

Reading in Isaiah this morning, the Lord is calling out those who say in their heart, "for we have made a lie our refuge and falsehood our hiding place." (Vs. 15)

The Lord immediately speaks of Christ:

"See, I lay a stone in Zion, a tested stone, a precious cornerstone for a sure foundation; the one who relies on it will never be stricken with panic." Isaiah 28:15-16

This stone is Christ, who is the Cornerstone (Eph. 2:20).

Since Christ calls Himself THE way, THE truth, and THE life, then the one who trusts in this stone is the one who takes refuge in the TRUTH, not a lie.

The first part of this scripture is a warning for those who take comfort in what is untrue. They tell themselves flattering lies that help them sleep at night, but when they are confronted with the truth (whether in this life or the next), they will be stricken with panic. Lies such as:

1. Hell is not real

2. God is not real

3. I don't have a sin problem

4. Any lie pertaining to ego (I am divine, I am good, I am god, I am ______)

5. No one goes to hell

6. I don't have to repent; I can live however I want.

7. Being in control/the god of your own life

8. My riches will save me, etc.

Don't make a lie your refuge. These lies are seducing, but not true. They promise freedom, but enslave.

Here is the warning: there will be a Day when the Lord returns, and all will be exposed. The lie will not protect you.

"I will make justice the measuring line and righteousness the plumb line; Hail will sweep away your refuge, the lie, And water will overflow your hiding place. Your covenant with death will be annulled; Your agreement with the realm of the dead will not stand. When the overwhelming scourge sweeps by, you will be beaten down by it. As often as it comes, it will carry you away; morning after morning, by day and by night, it will sweep through. Understanding of this message will bring sheer terror." - Isaiah 29:17-19

For those who are not surrendered to the cornerstone set in Zion, they will be crushed under the weight of the truth when He comes to them.

…But for those who trust in the Cornerstone (the Truth), they will not be stricken by panic.

People do not understand that if you make a 'covenant with death,' you are running from the life source, Christ.

You are running from Joy everlasting. You are turning away from God Himself.

Here's another reality: the Truth is better than the lie.

The Bible says "..the Truth shall set you free" (John)

Today is the day to surrender to the overseer and lover of your soul. Today is the day to embrace the Truth, even if the Truth hurts at first, He will save your soul.

If there is an issue you have OR trust issues you have towards God, bring those to Him. You are much safer running TO Him than FROM Him.

He is Good. He is Loving. He is Merciful.

He is also Just.

Today is the Day of Salvation!
