The ‘really’ deception

All Satan must do

is beg the question,

“Did God really say?”

Then we take it from there

and tarry his bidding.

Away from God

and His protection.

But it doesn’t end there,

no, it doesn’t end there.

The ‘really’ questions of Satan are far reaching

and deep.

They dig their claws into the vulnerabilities of the saints,

to cause them to trip, wander, and sleep.

“Are you really alive?”

Satan asks the Christian philosopher,

“prove it, I bet you can’t”

just to make him wander

and to find rest there… he can’t.

Whatever will work

to keep his mind away from serving Christ

and to serve the void of philosophical wanderings

is a great price.

“Are you really saved?”

Satan asks the Christian with a sensitive conscience

to steal his peace and confidence.

What a harrassing thought to keep the child of God

from knowing truth

and experiencing the love

that was given to you!

“Is God really good?”

Satan asks the Christian who has been betrayed

always having that thought in the back of his head,

to cause him to struggle and stray

robbing his peace and never leaving his bed,

to sink into the despair of loneliness, one that he can only relate-

“If God isn’t good, then none of us are safe.”

Since the garden,

this serpent of old

has used damning suggestions to trick us

“God has hidden from us something like gold.”

But this gold that we are chasing

is like the carrot dangling -

it is never caught

it never satisfies

and always leaves the poor soul wanting.

“Does God really exist?”

Satan asks the brother who struggles with cynicism.

The dark, old, familiar place.

The place that feels like a void,

but the love of God has replaced.

But God will use this to the devils detriment,

whenever questions are satisfied and when we get intimate

with God our savior,

the One we are creator for

and the One who holds our salvation

forevermore.

The Christian who overcomes these obstacles

will quickly pick up on

the devils tactics and then we learn to rest upon

Christ, the Truth, and author of our faith

will never leave nor forsake those He created and He made.

Turn to Christ, dear one.

Do not chase that devilish rabbit down the hole

of nothingness and confusion,

but trust in what you are told.

God is for you and He is indeed alive.

One day you will see Him for who He is,

but for now, you must remain faithful and

bring your deepest questions to Him.

For your vulnerabilities are your superpowers,

because when you are weak, you are strong in Him.

Chin up. Heaven is close.
